Internships

Completing an internship with the clinical development department of INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation is a once in a lifetime experience. Interns are responsible for developing and implementing a wide variety of continuing education courses, specialty projects for multiple patient populations, and the development of diagnosis specific clinical pathways alongside our highly trained and specialized staff of physical therapists, occupational therapists, music therapists, recreation therapists, and speech-language pathologists.

Unlike other rehabilitation internships, our program provides students with a comprehensive view of the preparation and roles of rehabilitation professionals.

After completing an internship at INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe, our students leave with knowledge, skills, and a portfolio of completed specialty projects that will allow them to be better applicants to future employment and education opportunities.

Who Should Apply?

Any individual who is looking to work in rehabilitation, exercise science, or health-related field is welcome to apply.  Interested in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy school?  Students seeking admission into physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech therapy school who intern at INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation have a greater chance of successful admission because:

  • Interns will be exposed to clinical programs and patient populations in a variety of health care settings (Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Outpatient Clinics)
  • Interns will be able to understand, explain, and impart key clinical concepts from participating in the development and implementation of continuing education courses
  • Interns will have had experience developing and implementing specialty programs for a multiple rehabilitation settings and for a variety of patient populations.

Not only does our internship serve as a capstone experience for exercise science-related degrees, it can assist in obtaining similar degrees in higher education.

Internship Qualifications

  • Pursuing a minimal of a bachelor's degree in exercise science, health exercise promotion, public health, or health-related field (graduate level internships are also available)
  • Must be available for a minimum of 10 hours per week for 10 weeks

Internship Opportunities

  • Development and coordination of continuing education courses (Our department offers greater than 100 hours each year)
  • Develop and implement rehabilitation programs and clinical pathways across a continuum of patient care
  • Assist the staff of the Clinical Development department with various aspects of INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation policies, procedures, data collection/management
  • Many other special projects that develop due to staff, patient, or programmatic needs

Internships are offered for fall, spring, and summer semesters.
