Cardiac Arrest
Different from a heart attack, cardiac arrest is the sudden, unexpected loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness. If not treated immediately, cardiac arrest is fatal. But survival is possible with fast and appropriate intervention.
Cardiomyopathy
Where you hear that someone has an enlarged heart, that condition is known as cardiomyopathy. And because it’s a progressive heart disease that usually leads to heart failure, cardiomyopathy needs to be controlled or treated with diet, medication or surgical interventions.
Congenital Heart Disease
Congenital heart disease is an abnormality in your heart's structure that appears at birth. Although congenital heart disease often led to death in the past, advances in surgical treatment means most babies who once died of congenital heart disease survive well into adulthood.
Heart Murmur
A heart murmur can occur at birth or develop later in life. It is not classified as a disease but can indicate an underlying problem. Heart murmurs alone are not serious, but follow-up testing is advisable, to ensure that there is not an underlying heart condition.
Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions that occur together, increasing your risk of heart disease and stroke. These conditions include increased blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, a high blood sugar level, and excess body fat around the waist
