Byron Detweiler, D.O.

Byron Detweiler, D.O., is an orthopedic surgeon with INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

He attended medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa. In addition, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency there. Dr. Detweiler also trained under Dr. James Andrews where he earned his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Andrews Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Surgery in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

During his training, Dr. Detweiler was privileged to provide sideline medical coverage for a variety of sports at various levels, including working with teams at Oklahoma State, Auburn, Pensacola State College, the University of West Florida and an extensive list of high schools.

He also has participated in minor league baseball and hockey coverage, as well as arena football. He continues to provide yearly medical coverage for the American Finals Rodeo in Tulsa. In addition to sideline coverage, he has been involved in treating a wide variety of athletes in many different sports disciplines including football, baseball, gymnastics, cheer, pole vaulting, cross country, CrossFit and basketball.

He treats an extensive list of orthopedic problems in patients young and old from athletes to weekend warriors to any individual who is eager to achieve the best possible outcome. Dr. Detweiler’s passion in medicine is returning people to function, from walking to get the mail to throwing a touchdown pass.
