Dr. Dhanushya (“Dhany”) Amaratunga, M.D., is a general cardiologist at INTEGRIS Health Heart Hospital, bringing a strong foundation in clinical excellence, research, and patient-centered care.
Dr. Amaratunga earned her medical degree from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka. After moving to the United States, she completed her internal medicine residency at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Pennsylvania, where she was recognized as Resident of the Year (2020) and served as the Chief Resident in her final year. She then continued at St. Luke’s to complete her cardiology fellowship, pursuing her long-held passion for heart health.
Before her clinical training, Dr. Amaratunga served as a research assistant at the University of Houston Science and Engineering Research Center and completed an externship at the Center for Advanced Cardiology at Memorial Hermann Hospital, further strengthening her research and clinical experience.
Her clinical interests encompass the full spectrum of general cardiology. Additionally, she is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. She believes that empowering patients through education is essential to achieving long-term wellness and optimal heart health.
