"Inspire" upper airway stimulation therapy is a breakthrough treatment option for those who cannot use continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
"Inspire" therapy works by keeping the upper airway open during the sleep. The patient uses a small hand-held remote to turn "Inspire" on before bed and off when they wake up. The "Inspire" device has been shown to be very effective in moderate to severe sleep apnea in selected group of patients. It is been approved by FDA as well as majority of the insurances including Medicare in selected group of patients who cannot tolerate CPAP.
