Over the past two decades, research has increasingly indicated that volunteering provides individual health benefits in addition to social ones. Recent research, presented by the Corporation for National and Community Service, in a report titled "The Health Benefits of Volunteering", has established a strong relationship between volunteering and health. Those who volunteer have lower mortality rates, greater functional ability, and lower rates of depression later in life than those who do not volunteer. Contact Angelique at 405-657-3000 for more information about volunteer opportunities at the hospital.
Also happening at INTEGRIS Health Edmond, the Edmond Republican Women organization recently donated enough books to be given to all of the babies born at the hospital during September, in honor of Literacy Month. The book donated by the group this year is On the Night You Were Born.
