ENID, OK (Feb.15, 2019) – Each year, 12.7 million people are diagnosed with cancer. It’s a devastating disease that knows no boundaries or limitations. But there is always hope, and at INTEGRIS we are here to help.
Last year alone, the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute of Enid helped more than 500 local patients walk through their personal cancer journey.
It’s a commitment made more than 40 years ago, when the INTEGRIS Foundation began investing in the Enid community by bringing cancer technologies, such as radiation oncology, to northwest Oklahoma.
which was considered to be the latest technological advancement in radiation treatment at the time.
designed to support patients with travel expenses and/or overnight stays and medication.
And today, INTEGRIS continues to make good on that promise. The health care system recently approved a $3.4M investment to bring a top of the line radiation beam to INTEGRIS Bass. This will be the only radiation beam of its kind in northwest Oklahoma and will be the same quality of the beams available in Oklahoma City. It is expected to be up and running by Sept. 16.
Also, as part of ongoing fundraising efforts by the INTEGRIS Foundation to support patients within the community, INTEGRIS Cancer Institute of Enid would like to introduce a new program called CanServe. This program is designed to meet the dietary needs of cancer patients during the first week of treatment by providing one free meal a day for five days of perfectly portioned hot and healthy meals that are nutrient appropriate for cancer patients.
Food is essential for sustaining life. And while we all could benefit from proper nutrition, for someone in the midst of battling cancer, it is even more vital. Yet for many patients and their families dealing with the emotions of a cancer diagnosis, maintaining a well-balanced diet is not initially top of mind. Their energy and focus are on the treatment at hand.
The gift of food is meant to provide comfort when it is needed most and to give these patients one less thing to worry about. You can help the INTEGRIS Foundation raise money for CanServe, and other programs that focus on cancer, by attending this year’s Sporting Clay Shoot and Red Dirt Gala on Fri., June 14.
