The Teddy Bear Clinic is designed to lessen the fear and anxiety of going to the doctor or hospital.

INTEGRIS Health Children’s Holds Teddy Bear Clinic

Patients at INTEGRIS Health Children’s at Baptist Medical Center were especially cute and cuddly today, as the hospital held a Teddy Bear Clinic. Children were encouraged to bring a teddy bear or their favorite stuffed animal from home to participate in the event.

The kiddos were able to give their teddy bear a “check-up” using real medical equipment, temporary tattoos and stickers. “The idea is to make the kids feel more comfortable in a medical environment,” says Millaine Thiel, a certified child life specialist at INTEGRIS Health Children’s. “The Teddy Bear Clinic is designed to lessen the fear and anxiety of going to the doctor or hospital. If their favorite stuffed animal can do it, then they can too!”

Teddy bears were given to children who didn’t have one. The event was open to pediatric patients, visitors and the children of INTEGRIS Health caregivers.
