Greg and Kim Jehlik travel from out of state to INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center every year to pay tribute to their son. Jeff Kummer was an adult liver and kidney transplant patient who unfortunately passed away in 2015. For the last nine years, the family has returned to Oklahoma around Jeff’s birthday, which is Sept. 2, to say thank you to the INTEGRIS Health Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute staff and others who lovingly cared for their son during his final years of life. “When a family is going through crisis there’s a lot of stress and emotion,” Greg explains. “Just know the little things we appreciate, the big things we appreciate and while you may not always feel the love, care and thanks that you deserve – it’s there!”
The Jehlik’s greeted the caregivers with hugs and hand delivered treats in honor of what would have been Jeff’s 45th birthday. They hope to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation and acknowledge the exceptional medical care Jeff received at INTEGRIS Health.
