INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital Recognized with Excellence in the Workplace Award

The Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA) has selected INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital as the recipient of the 2024 Excellence in the Workplace Environment Award.

The award is presented to organizations that have developed an innovative and effective program, approach or overall environment that promotes excellent nursing care, a positive work environment and supports nurses in their practice.

“INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital was awarded the Excellence in the Workplace Environment Award because it exemplifies an organization that has developed a positive work environment and has demonstrated this through their successful journey and third designation as an ANCC Pathway to Excellence facility,” says ONA President Angie Kamermayer.

The selection process for the award involves an application that individuals, groups or organizations can submit, and awards are based on specific criteria to qualify. Tina Edwards, nursing manager at INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital, submitted the application for consideration.

“From the moment I interviewed with a panel of leaders, I knew this was a place where I could grow personally and professionally,” says Edwards. “INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital has created a culture of excellence in the workplace through engagement, belonging and providing a sense of purpose to everyone. It’s not your normal facility - it is an extraordinary facility.”

“The leadership at Canadian Valley supports nurses by giving them a voice in the profession through shared governance while providing a safe work environment, focusing on quality, promoting wellness and encouraging professional development,” says Kamermayer.

“We are very fortunate to have many outstanding nurses who understand the importance of teamwork, active engagement and collaboration. We take great pride in our commitment to excellence, evidence-based practices and providing high quality care for our patients,” says Chief Hospital Executive Teresa Gray.

The award was presented at the 2024 Oklahoma Nurses Association Awards Luncheon on Sept. 26 in Tulsa.
