INTEGRIS Health Ponca City Hospital earned national recognition for its efforts to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registrations across the state through LifeShare of Oklahoma and the DoNation Campaign.
LifeShare of Oklahoma is the organization in the state responsible for coordinating organ and tissue donation. The DoNation Campaign is a national initiative encouraging workplaces across the nation to spread the word about the importance of donation.
The DoNation Campaign challenges hospitals and health care organizations to educate their staff, patients, visitors and communities about the critical need for organ, eye and tissue donation, including offering opportunities to register as organ donors. INTEGRIS Health Ponca City Hospital earned platinum recognition for conducting awareness and registry activities between October 2023 and April 2024, prompting new donor registrations during that period.
INTEGRIS Health Ponca City Hospital was one of 55 Oklahoma Hospitals to participate in the 2024 campaign in Oklahoma. Chris Mendoza, chief hospital executive shared, "I am proud of our recognition as we continue our commitment to creating a donation-friendly environment among our caregivers and community members."
The 2024 hospital campaign efforts added 9,134 registrations to state registries. Since its inception in 2011, the campaign has generated 639,399 registrations, as well as united donation advocates at hospitals with representatives from LifeShare.
Every nine minutes, another person is added to the national organ transplant waiting list, reaffirming the critical and growing need for more registered organ, eye and tissue donors. Click here for more information about the DoNation Campaign and click here to sign up to be a donor today.
