Douglas Caldwell is a large stature of a man with a booming radio voice, but he was nearly silenced from a debilitating fall. After breaking his neck and suffering a spinal cord injury during the tumble, Douglas worked very hard to get back on his feet. Overcoming physical pain and the mental fear of falling again, he persevered to regain his independence.

Adler Caudle was just 18 years old when he was paralyzed in a motocross event. Exhibiting a mental toughness well beyond his years, he quickly accepted that while he could not change the past – he could impact his future. By never giving up on himself, Adler is now living life on his own terms.

Wrangler Dunda is a retired bull rider and though he says he’s not a cowboy – he is as tough as they come. He was working as a roofer when a metal sheet he was carrying hit an electrical wire. Wrangler sustained severe third degree burns and would eventually lose both of his legs below the knee. Still, he continues to live life with purpose and positivity.

All three winners will be recognized at the Jim Thorpe Courage Award Luncheon, Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Petroleum Club Event Center located at 4040 N. Lincoln Blvd. in Oklahoma City.
