The grant will support El Reno Blessing Baskets' food distribution initiatives, helping ensure residents of Canadian County have reliable access to nutritious meals.
El Reno Blessing Baskets provides comprehensive food boxes to individuals and families living at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. In addition to on-site pickup, the organization offers home delivery services, bringing essential groceries directly to homebound seniors who are unable to visit the distribution site because of physical or logistical barriers.
Donna Dyer, the director of community relations at Blessing Baskets, emphasized the importance of these deliveries. "We aren't just eliminating a physical barrier to nutrition; we are also providing a vital point of human connection. It lets them know that their community has not forgotten them and is actively looking out for their well-being."
The organization is also preparing to open a new 6,500-square-foot facility this fall, featuring walk-in freezer and refrigerator units that will expand its capacity to provide fresh and healthy food options. The facility will also introduce client-choice shopping, allowing families to select items that best meet their needs.
Dyer noted that support from organizations such as INTEGRIS Health plays a critical role in making this expansion possible. "Partnerships like this with INTEGRIS Health are what allow us to scale our operations, bridge nutritional gaps and seamlessly prepare for the expanded service capabilities our new facility will bring to El Reno and the surrounding area."
