This recognition reflects the hospital’s commitment to the highest standards of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. These standards are built on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, a set of evidence-based practices recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
Baby-Friendly designated hospitals promote practices that support infant feeding and maternal education while respecting each family’s individual choices.
“The hospital experience strongly influences a mother’s ability to start and continue breastfeeding,” said Michelle Stone, women’s center manager. “We are committed to providing evidence-based care through the Baby-Friendly designation and ensuring all mothers who deliver at INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital feel supported, regardless of their feeding decisions.”
