Six INTEGRIS Health hospitals have earned 2026 Spotlight Hospital Awards from the Oklahoma Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative (OPQIC) for their commitment to high-quality care for mothers and newborns.
Four hospitals received gold-level recognition, and two received silver-level recognition. The awards recognize Oklahoma birthing hospitals that meet established criteria supporting excellence in perinatal care.
“Every mother and baby deserves care that is safe, compassionate and grounded in proven practices,” says Emily Eriksson, INTEGRIS Health system vice president of nursing and clinical transformation. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams across INTEGRIS Health who work together to support families throughout pregnancy, childbirth and after delivery.”
The Spotlight Hospital criteria address practices that support mothers and newborns, including breastfeeding assistance, safe sleep education, patient-centered communication, maternal mental health and substance use support, newborn screening and the prevention of non-medically indicated deliveries before 39 weeks.
Participating hospitals also support initiatives such as TeamBirth, a structured communication approach that brings patients, their families and clinical teams together to discuss preferences, concerns and care decisions.
“Quality maternal care involves more than what happens during delivery,” says Mitchell West, M.D., a board-certified OBGYN at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center, and section chief and medical director for women’s health. “We work together in our women’s centers to listen to our patients, identify concerns early, complete newborn screenings promptly and help families receive the information and support they need for a safe transition home with their newborn.”
INTEGRIS Health Edmond and INTEGRIS Health Enid advanced to gold-level recognition this year, after having received silver (Edmond) and bronze-level (Enid) honors in 2025 — reflecting continued progress in maternal and newborn quality initiatives.
The Oklahoma Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative works with hospitals, clinicians, partners and advocates throughout the state to improve maternal and infant health outcomes and advance safety and equity in perinatal care.
