Breast Health Services at INTEGRIS Health

Whether it’s your first screening mammogram, a lump you’ve found or breast cancer treatment, INTEGRIS Health guides you through every step of your breast health journey.

Our board-certified radiologists and registered technologists offer 3D mammography, which increases cancer detection and reduces false positives, especially for women with dense breasts, along with diagnostic imaging for follow-up on abnormal results or symptoms.

If you need more, our team supports you with breast surgery, the High Risk Genetic Clinic, and reconstructive services, plus care through the INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute.

A magnetic field and radio beam are used to create a picture of the breast for additional imaging or for biopsy procedures.

After you complete your breast cancer treatment, INTEGRIS Health Medical Group Plastic and Hand Surgery provides breast reconstructive services whether your treatment was recently or from a previous year.

INTEGRIS Health Medical Group Breast Surgery is available to identify and diagnose breast disease and create a surgery treatment plan that's specialized just for you. From surgical procedures to survivorship programs, we can provide you with the care you need throughout your journey.

Breast ultrasounds help determine if a biopsy or further tests are needed and distinguish normal cysts or fat lobules from concerning changes. They also assess suspicious breast masses and enlarged lymph nodes under the arm and guide needle placements during biopsies.

X-rays of the breasts for women with a breast symptom such as pain, lump, discharge or retracted nipple. A diagnostic mammogram is more extensive and requires a doctor's referral.

Comprehensive services to determine an individual’s likelihood of developing breast cancer based on their unique risk factors.

For patients age 40 and older, yearly screening (or routine) mammograms should be a part of your annual physical exam.

Screening mammogram appointments are for women with no new breast problems or concerns, such as new lumps, pain, discharge or skin changes. Screening mammogram appointments are designed to be quick and convenient.

Results are available by MyChart notification or sent by mail. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of screening mammograms.

INTEGRIS Health offers stereotactic breast biopsy, which is a minimally invasive, advanced procedure using X-ray technology and a computer-guided machine to accurately collect tissue samples with minimal discomfort.

This outpatient procedure requires only local anesthesia, results in little to no scarring and offers a quick recovery with minimal pain.

Understanding Breast Cancer Risk

Despite being one of the most common types of cancers, the scientific explanation for why breast cancer occurs more often than other types of cancers is unknown in the medical community. What researchers do know is which factors heighten – or lower – the risk of developing breast cancer. As breast cancer prevalence grows (women have a 13 percent lifetime risk, meaning 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed), having a basic understanding of what puts you at risk can help you prepare for the future.

Breast Cancer in Men: Signs, Symptoms and Treatment Options

Male breast cancer is a rare condition, accounting for less than one percent of all breast cancer cases, but it's still important to be aware of its signs, symptoms, causes and treatment options should you or a loved one be impacted. As part of breast cancer awareness in October, we talk to Samer Hassan, M.D., a board-certified physician in internal medicine, oncology and hematology, with INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute at Southwest Medical Center.

What Happens to Your Body When You Have Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is one of the most common and effective forms of cancer treatment. Despite doing its job of destroying cancer cells, chemotherapy drugs also impact healthy cells and cause a wide range of side effects. In this blog, Brian Geister, M.D., and Agnel Raparthi, M.D., both with the INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute, weigh in on how chemotherapy affects the body.
