INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute provides personalized cancer care, advanced treatment options and compassionate support close to home.
Radiation oncology uses advanced radiation therapy to treat cancer by targeting and destroying cancer cells while protecting surrounding healthy tissue. At the INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute, patients receive personalized treatment plans from experienced radiation oncology specialists using leading-edge technology.
Low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) is a non-surgical treatment option that uses small, targeted doses of radiation to help reduce inflammation in arthritic joints. By addressing joint inflammation, LDRT may help relieve pain, reduce stiffness and improve mobility for some patients with osteoarthritis.
Unlike radiation therapy used to treat cancer, LDRT uses much lower doses of radiation and is focused on managing symptoms rather than destroying tissue. Treatments are provided by experienced radiation oncology specialists.
Low-dose radiation therapy is most effective for targeted joint inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and may be used as part of a comprehensive pain management plan. It is not typically used to treat rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis.
To learn whether LDRT may be right for you, speak with your primary care provider or contact the INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute at 877-811-4246.
