Frequently Asked Questions

What are the visiting hours?

The center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with quiet time hours from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Family is encouraged to be with you; however, there are times the nurse may ask visitors to step out of the room for your privacy. We allow one overnight guest.

Can I eat and drink?

This depends on the reason you are here. Once you are in labor, it is not safe for you to have food that sits in your stomach. You may be allowed to have clear liquids; however, some physicians prefer their patients have only ice chips in labor.

Who will be in the room when I deliver?

Your physician, your nurse, a nurse designated to care for your baby and an OB tech. In certain circumstances, a neonatal intensive care nurse and a respiratory therapist may also be present for delivery.

Can we videotape / take pictures of the delivery?

Videotaping and photographing the delivery is at your physician’s discretion. Please ask their preferences during one of your prenatal visits. You may take pictures and videotape before and after the delivery.

How long will I stay in the hospital after I deliver?

Your physician determines your length of stay, but you can expect to stay at least 24 to 48 hours after a vaginal delivery and 48 to 72 hours after a Cesarean delivery.
