INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital now offers a new surgery option using the Da Vinci Xi robot.
The Da Vinci Xi Surgical System makes it possible to perform surgery through a few small incisions about the size of your fingertip. The surgeon uses a special console to control a camera and the tiny instruments used to perform the surgery.
Teresa Gray, chief hospital executive, said the team successfully completed its first surgery with the Da Vinci Xi robot on Wednesday, April 24.
“This advanced technology demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest quality care as well as our continuing efforts to provide transformative surgical options for our patients,” she said.
The Da Vinci Xi Surgical System delivers 3D high-definition views, giving the surgeon a crystal-clear view of the surgical area magnified 10 times what the human eye sees. It translates every movement the surgeon makes in real time, bending and rotating instruments like a human hand, but with a greater range of motion. Built-in tremor filtration technology helps the surgeon move each instrument with smooth precision.
“At INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital, we are determined to lead the way in all aspects of medical care for our community,” said Gregory Root, D.O. “With the addition of this cutting edge surgical technology, we can stay ahead of the curve in surgical treatments.”
“The Da Vinci Xi Robot offers advancements in surgical techniques that improve outcomes and decrease the recovery time for our patients,” explained Root. “3D visualization with a surgical table that is Bluetooth activated are just a few of the advancements this brand-new robotic system offers,” he said. “I personally have performed over 400 robotic cases and am excited to offer this advanced robotic surgical care in Oklahoma.”
