INTEGRIS Health offers a group of peer-selected upper level residents who promote and help maintain physician and mental well-being for residents.
INTEGRIS Health Graduate Medical Education is engaging in an ongoing effort to address provider burnout and resilience from an institutional level. There is increasing awareness in the medical community that physician burnout is a growing problem affecting physicians during training and throughout their careers. However, residency training is a particularly vulnerable time for developing burnout and compassion fatigue. The Graduate Medical Education Wellness strategy includes multiple components that align with initiatives within the larger organization of INTEGRIS Health.
We are a group of peer-selected upper-level residents from multiple specialties who recognize the importance of wellness in the medical education setting. Residency can be a stressful experience, and greater awareness regarding physician burnout has highlighted the importance of resident wellbeing. To that end, we serve as a personal resource for our co-residents after adverse professional or personal events. We also work together to establish departmental programs and activities that promote and help maintain physical and mental wellbeing during medical training.
Our mission is to implement wellness-focused programs and provide resources for residents at INTEGRIS Health, thereby enhancing the residency education experience and combating physician burnout.
