Symposium Highlights

Instruction includes:
The 2-hour virtual pre-course will familiarize the therapist with relevant anatomy, surface anatomy, orthosis types, thermoplastic material characteristics, and recommended tools and equipment. The lecture will also include discussion of clinical pearls, precautions with orthosis fabrication, patient education, and education on L Codes to improve understanding of accurate billing for orthoses.
The 8 hours of in-person instruction will familiarize the therapist with the basics of orthotic fabrication and to provide a strong foundation that can be utilized to fabricate orthoses for a variety of upper extremity diagnoses, including nerve compression syndromes, finger and wrist fractures, ligament injuries, and contractures. This course will include orthosis demonstrations and hands-on opportunities to fabricate custom orthoses for the finger, hand, wrist, and elbow in a relaxed and unintimidating setting along with discussion of appropriate clinical applications / diagnoses for these orthoses.
