Emergency Medicine Residency at INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center

INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center is one of the busiest emergency departments in Oklahoma. We treat more than 82,000 patients annually, and our numbers continue growing. As an unopposed residency, we run all codes and perform all EM procedures in the hospital. Along with our high volume and high acuity patient population, we are second to none in our academic endeavors. Annually, our residents present at multiple national conferences, participate in health-changing quality improvement projects and are recognized as high performers on the in-training exam.

Our residency department houses 26 acute care beds (including three resuscitation bays) and eight observation beds. We are a level three trauma center that takes all level three trauma in the area on a rotating basis. INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center is a certified stroke center. The Department of Emergency Medicine also recently received a VHA Center of Excellence award for throughput time.

Simply put, train with us, and you can work anywhere!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve the healthcare of the people and the community we serve by providing excellent emergency medical education and patient-centered care. We will provide quality and compassionate care while ensuring the needs of our patients supersede all others.

Educational Goals of the Program

The Emergency Medicine Residency Program aims to train physicians to practice state-of-the-art emergency medicine compassionately and scholarly. The training experience will include increasing responsibility for increasingly complex medical conditions with the expectation that the resident will, by completing the program, be able to provide competent and complete emergency patient care. Graduates of this program are expected to be qualified and eligible to sit for the certification examination in Emergency Medicine provided by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) and by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM).
