In this course, we will explore the wide variety of vision related complaints that can occur following neurologic insults/injuries. Considerations will include loss of vision, double vision/eyelid drooping (ptosis) and uncontrollable eye movements. A brief description of the possible causes, first steps in management and urgency of referral for each symptom will be discussed.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Increase awareness of neuro-ophthalmic manifestations of neurologic injury
2. Employ early treatment strategies to alleviate symptoms during rehabilitation
3. Recognize high risk symptoms and provide timely/appropriate referral
