Welcome to 501 ICU (intensive care unit). I am LaRhonda Richardson, MSN, RN, CCRN and I am the current Nurse Manager of the Medical 501 Intensive Care Unit on the 5th floor at INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center Northwest Expressway.
501 ICU is an interdisciplinary team-centered unit that works closely with a group of physicians that rotate weekly and are the attending physician of every patient in our unit. This intensivist physician model fosters an environment of teamwork that is amplified through multidisciplinary rounding and daily tasks.
We care for a wide range of patients ages 18 and up that are diagnosed with sepsis, acute respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, multiorgan system failure, drug overdose, gastrointestinal bleeds, diabetic ketoacidosis, renal failure, liver failure and a host of other diagnoses.
501 is an excellent unit for all nurses, no matter where you are in your nursing career. New graduate nurses work their way through a nurse residency program and are assigned a preceptor in 501. In contrast, experienced nurses can continue to gain skills and broaden their horizons with a wide range of patient diagnoses. Through working closely with a multidisciplinary team, nurses find themselves in an environment that fosters success and job satisfaction.
