Labor and Delivery

4 West Labor & Delivery

We are a 15-bed labor and antepartum unit on the 4th floor of INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center.

Here at labor and delivery, we work in a fast-paced, effective, positive environment while providing care to a diverse patient population. Our patient population is unique because we care for two patients in one. We care for adult and pediatric patients ranging from newborns to 50+ year-old women who are being treated for obstetrical care before and after delivery.

We strive to give the highest quality of care possible to our patients. Our nurses are successful because of their strong critical thinking skill, compassion, and ability to work together as a cohesive team. Our nurses are quick to jump into action to help each other whenever needed. We have a variety of tools, such as birthing balls, peanut balls, squat bars and more to incorporate into each of our patient's unique labor experiences.

We orient new nurses to our unit by providing an extensive 10-16 week unit-specific orientation with our designated preceptors. Any recent grads orienting receive an extended orientation of up to 16 weeks of unit-specific training after completing an eight week post partum training along with education and classes offered through INTEGRIS Health's nurse residency program.

On our unit, we have in-house anesthesia available 24/7 and a team of physicians who practice as our unit's hospitalist. Our sister units, postpartum and NICU, neighbor us closely. Both are located on the 4th floor. We adhere to AWHONN guidelines with nurse to patient ratios and in our nursing practice.
