We are the heart/lung transplant, LVAD, TAH, stroke, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac floor.
Welcome to the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit. We are the heart/lung transplant, LVAD, TAH, stroke, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac floor.
We have a 34-bed unit with eight of them designated for stroke patients.
The environment on our unit is a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-acuity area that incorporates state-of-the-art advanced heart interventions.
We care for adult patients aged 18 years and older who require heart or lung transplants, ventricular assistive devices, total artificial heart, advanced heart failure treatments, pre- and post-procedures, strokes, and pulmonary hypertension.
Our patient population is unique because we are the only hospital in the state that is implanting total artificial hearts (TAHs) and ventricular assistive devices (VADs). We are also the only unit besides the ICU and Jim Thorpe rehab that can care for this patient population here at INTEGRIS Health.
One of the big perks of working on our unit is that our team gets to know the patients and their families well. We have a personal connection with these patients because we can care for them through their entire heart failure journey.
Our staff members are successful because they have a high commitment to quality care, ongoing educational opportunities, the development of advanced critical thinking skills, and continuous support from their colleagues and their Leadership Team.
We orient new nurses by providing 12 weeks of orientation with a dedicated preceptor and close collaboration with our unit Nursing Educator and Clinical Staff Leaders. Your preferred learning style will be identified during orientation and your training will be tailored to your specific educational needs. You also will have additional training for VAD, TAHs, Strokes, and PAH patients.
