New nurses can expect an extensive orientation with education support from an assigned preceptor, NICU Nursing Education Specialist, Family Support Specialist, Nurse Practitioners, and Neonatologists.
We are located on the 4th floor of INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center.
Unlike other ICUs, the NICU cares for patients from their most unstable state all the way to discharge. This means you will have challenging days with lots of meds, procedures, and sometimes even loss; however, you will also have days of stable bottle feeding, bath time, and celebrating discharges. Our length of stay can be as short as 24 hours up to 200+ days. Bonds are created between nurses, babies, and their families that last a lifetime. We celebrate with them during their stay, upon discharge, and often throughout their lives.
Nurses can expect to work as a team, use critical thinking, and become experts in therapies and specialized care for these patients. New nurses can expect an extensive orientation with education support from an assigned preceptor, NICU Nursing Education Specialist, Family Support Specialist, Nurse Practitioners, and Neonatologists.
