As President and Chief Executive Officer of INTEGRIS Health, Timothy Pehrson is responsible for leading the health system. Pehrson joined INTEGRIS Health in August 2018 after an accomplished and distinguished career at Intermountain Healthcare. During Pehrson’s early tenure at INTEGRIS Health, he successfully introduced and implemented the INTEGRIS Health Way, which is an operating model used to engage caregivers in continuous improvement. The health system continues to experience growth, including a recent hospital acquisition, a joint venture with groups that own and operate specialty hospitals and the completion of four community hospitals in 2019. Pehrson brought to INTEGRIS a profound understanding of today's healthcare industry and its challenges, and more importantly, insights into areas of opportunity for sustainability, affordability, value, and even greater success.
Prior to INTEGRIS Health, Pehrson most recently served in a dual role as Regional Vice President/CEO for the North Region and Vice President of Continuous Improvement for Intermountain Healthcare. In his position as CEO of the North Region, he was the market leader of a five-hospital region in Utah and Idaho. Pehrson developed, piloted and applied strategies and initiatives in the North Region that were adopted throughout the enterprise. As Vice President of Continuous Improvement, Pehrson designed and implemented the system’s enterprise-wide continuous improvement effort, now called the Intermountain Operating Model, which resulted in a strong performance in safety, quality, patient experience, access, costs and growth. Pehrson began his career at Intermountain in 2000 and held numerous operational and executive leadership roles. Pehrson spent his early career in roles with United Healthcare, Samaritan Health System (now Banner Health System) and Henry Ford Health System.
Pehrson graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and received a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan. Under his Intermountain tenure, his hospitals were recognized 12 times as Truven 100 Top Hospitals, including the Everest Award, given to 17 hospitals across the country with the highest performance and fastest long-term growth over five years. Pehrson was named a “Healthcare Hero” in 2015 and a “Top 40 under Forty” executive in 2007 by Utah Business Magazine. He is an American Hospital Association, Utah Grassroots Champion in 2014 for his advocacy work.
